Quantic Dream has been in the game development business for over a decade and is a game developer with an uncanny fixation for serial killers. All three games that the studio has produced so far have been about investigations into serial killings, and in a sense these games can be considered as parts of a trilogy. While the three games have maintained a common theme, the game mechanics have been radically different each time. With Heavy Rain, the end result is far more drastic and to consider this product a game in the conventional sense would be a stretch. Heavy Rain follows the investigation of multiple homicides in which the victims — all of them children — are found drowned in rain water and the killer leaves an origami figure as a calling card. Playing CounterStrike was never very friendly, what with the cutthroat competition from across the world for the #1 multiplayer FPS ever. But things in a small town in the Jilin province of China seem to have gone too far, like many things in that country. Imagine a cyber cafe in a small Chinese town, filled with young gamers and people simply checking their e-mail, where a game of CounterStrike is being played. Some youths, possibly from the same clan, noticed another young dude (17-year old) cheating, using a “wallhack” to see through walls. Ironically, this ability to “see through walls” in the game led to the opposite coming true in the real world, where the young cheater did not realise he was being watched while he was doing his dirty work.I feel kinda...

Nintendo shocked the world early this morning, by issuing a press release that tells of a new gaming platform to be released before the financial year ending March 2011, called the Nintendo 3DS. While it is a temporary name, the spirit behind it will not change, as Nintendo says the portable video game console will feature “3D effects” that can be enjoyed “without the need for any special glasses”. As the technology for such a feat is not yet available, it can be safely assumed that Nintendo is sitting on a golden egg, one that will keep other portable gaming consoles even further away than its predecessor the Nintendo DS did, which sold more than 125 million units by the end of 2009.
