Ubisoft scriptwriter confirms Far Cry 3 is coming

Fans of the popular first-person shooter Far Cry will be happy to know that Ubisoft has started working on the second sequel to the game. At least that’s what the company’s scriptwriter has inadvertently confirmed when Official PlayStation Magazine asked him about it.
CVG has reported that when the magazine asked writer Kevin Shortt if he was working on a sequel to the game, he replied: “No, I'm not. But I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting.” This comes ahead of an official confirmation from UbiSoft, and Shortt might just be getting a call from his boss this morning!
Last year, Patrick Redding – Ubisoft’s Game and Narrative Designer for Far Cry 2 – had told VG247 that the team was going to stick to the African environments for the next sequel in the series, but was also eyeing snow-based levels.
“We might find something new and compelling about the Antarctic setting that wants us to make the next game there,” he had said then, adding that the engine was just as capable of making a game in the jungles of South America. The possibilities, basically, are endless.
The idea of snow-based settings finds merit in the fact that it seems to be the new trend now, with two of the hottest games of the year – Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2 – incorporating several levels in the icy white.
